Basic Diver: Your Next Step Underwater
Basic Diver is designed for participants who want to take the next step after their first introduction to scuba diving. This program provides the essential basic knowledge and skills to make open water dives under the direct supervision of an SSI Open Water Instructor.
What can you expect?
Basic Diver is an entry-level program and does not lead to an independent diving certification, but a certificate valid for 6 months. The focus is on developing comfort, safety, and confidence in using diving equipment and basic skills.
The training takes place in a controlled environment, where participants gain practical experience in our aquarium.
All components are focused on safety, control, and a structured first diving experience. The program is suitable for participants who want a structured introduction to diving.

This includes the theory lesson, briefing, preparation, in-water session, and debriefing.

What's not allowed

How your dive proceeds
Check-in
Check in at the counter 15 minutes beforehand. You’ll receive a colored wristband – always wear it visibly, it grants access to the Experience Zone. Your 2-hour dive session starts now.
Change clothes
- Put on your swimwear
- Store your belongings in a locker (opened with your wristband)
- Go barefoot to the fourth floor (stairs or elevator)
- Bring your own dive gear with you
Disinfect gear & shower
- Go through the foot bath and take a shower
- Pick up rented gear
- Disinfect it in the sink and rinse.
- Shower again before entering the water
After your dive
- Disinfect your gear
- Return the gear
- Change clothes
- Deposit your wristband in the box – within 2 hours.
Validity and Progression Options
After completing the program:
- The participant may dive anywhere in the world for six months under the direct supervision of an SSI Professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters.
- The participant can progress to advanced courses that build on the acquired skills and lead to your Open Water Diver certification.
If you complete your Open Water Diver course at TODI, you are entitled to a €49 discount!
